Fable of the Mermaid and the Drunks

All those men were inside,

when she came in totally naked.

They had been drinking: they began to spit.

Newly come from the river, she knew nothing.

She was a mermaid who had lost her way.

The insults flowed down her gleaming flesh.

Obscenities drowned her golden breasts.

Not knowing tears, she did not weep.

Not knowing clothes, she did not have clothes.

They blackened her with burnt corks and cigarette stubs,

and rolled around laughing on the tavern floor.

She did not speak because she had no speech.

Her eyes were the colour of distant love,

her twin arms were made of white topaz.

Her lips moved, silent, in a coral light,

and suddenly she went out by that door.

Entering the river she was cleaned,

shining like a white stone in the rain,

and without looking back she swam again

swam towards emptiness, swam towards death.

Remembering Your Birth

The less you have the less things will worry you. The less you worry the less you will have to worry about. The more you breath the more you will live. The more you live the happier your life will be.

Accessories To....

Somehow I don't recall seeing anyone at bike week that would make this look good.

An Athenian

I don't want to stay forever, I'm just not ready to leave yet. Once everyone who is important to me leaves I will have nothing left to hold me here. These last few days in Athens have made me feel something I thought I had lost. It's nice to have this feeling back back. There are no commitments, nothing is definite, nothing is forever, just right now, just happiness, and no apologies for trying to be who you want to be or what you do.

Micro Wrestling

I stuck around in Sandusky for a little longer than I should have on Wednesday, my last day. I picked up a flyer for an Ohio Bike Week event, going on in town this week, at a local gas station and thought it would be worth sticking around for. I'm not sure what's kosher, but the event was called the Midget Wrestling Extravaganza, their words not mine. Seeing the crowds reaction to the performers disturbed me. I chatted with a few of them while they were getting ready and they were all interesting people with backstories of how they came to be in the Micro Wrestling Federation. Unfortunately I would be willing to bet 99% of the crowd didn't see much more than the surface level. After the first two matches I had to leave because I was getting too offended by the crowds. I hope these photos show a more truthful and honest viewpoint of the situation.

Bring Your Intern To Work Day

Last day in the doosky. Last expensed lunch. Last beer at Daly's. Last second to my last work day turned into my last two hours o my last spot news.... turning into the first last night to spend in Athens being canceled to sleep amongst Rubbermaid and duffel bags.

Please remember kids. Be careful while playing on train tracks at or near the time when people may be getting off work. This is the real world, not the movie Stand By Me.
